The Versorgungswerk der Zahnärztekammer Westfalen-Lippe (VZWL) was founded to assure a legally valid claim to insurance benefits in the event of old age, death or disability for all members of the association and their families. The basis of this is the Health Care Procession Law (Heilberufsgesetz) concerning the associations and the exercising of the profession, further training and the legal liability of doctors, pharmacists, veterinarians and dentists (in the version published on 9th May, 2000, most recently modified by the law of 26th April, 2016.
Article 6 a para. 1 of this law states that:
“The associations are required to provide pensions and benefits for members of the association and members of their families through special articles of association with the approval of the supervisory authorities defined in Article 3 para. 1 of the Insurance Supervision Law NRW.”
The association meeting, as the highest body of the VZWL, passed the first articles of association of the VZWL on 16th February, 1957, which were approved by the supervisory authorities on 17th April, 1957.
Currently the articles of association of the VZWL that came into force in June 2023 apply.
